Four guided tours of the church of San Francesco d’Assisi in Lerici, at 16:00, to discover its artistic heritage and the conservation project.
Guided tours of the parish church of San Francesco d’Assisi in Lerici take place at 16:00 on 1 November, 6 December and 27 December 2026, and 3 January 2027. The initiative supports the project to restore and enhance the church’s Franciscan heritage.
The project
“San Francesco a Lerici – restauro e valorizzazione nel centenario francescano” is being carried out with the support of Fondazione Carispezia and Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo, as part of the “Un patrimonio che vive – Tutelare e valorizzare i beni culturali del territorio” funding programme. To mark the 800th anniversary of the death of San Francesco d’Assisi, the project protects the decorative features of the apse and the marble sculpture of the saint, addressing deterioration and conservation issues, including those caused by humidity, while respecting the original materials.
Information
The Parish is leading the project, together with the Comune di Lerici and the Associazione Guide Turistiche della Liguria. Following the restoration, guided tours, cultural itineraries and educational activities are planned; the site will also be covered by a monitoring and maintenance programme.
